Ruskin real estate

Ruskin is a fast growing coastal community on the
southeastern shore of Tampa Bay more specifically located on the
entrance of the Little Manatee River and the Ruskin inlet. It is a
unique and special part of Hillsborough County with ties to history,
agriculture, education, arts and nature. Originally founded by Dr.
George Miller & Albert Dickman of Illinois, their dream was to start
the Ruskin College named after famous English art and social critic
John Ruskin. Their hope was for students to study part time and be
employed part time. By 1917, all able men had been drafted to the
war and forced the women into cities for gainful employment. With no
students and the war on, the college was forced to close. This area,
today known as Ruskin, was under the Governance of the Ruskin Common
good Society and sold its last piece of' property to Hillsborough
County in 1970.
Ruskin has a protected harbor and offers a
lifestyle of relaxation, recreation and quiet, easy living. Just 30
minutes from downtown Tampa and minutes from Brandon, Ruskin is a
wonderful coastal Florida community with most affordable housing,
endless recreational opportunities and a rich heritage.
