New Master Planned Communities thrive in “New Tampa”. The area was originally settled in the mid 1800 but it remained undeveloped until the late 1980. New Tampa is located in North East area of Tampa and was annexed by the City of Tampa in 1988. The area encompasses a 24 square mile that rapidly increased into one of the largest city neighborhoods. The population increased from 7,145 residents in 1990 to 26, 000 people in 2000 to 37,500 residents in 2005.
