Brandon real estate

Started by family
values, Brandon philosophy remains the same today. Brandon was
originally founded in 1857 by John Brandon, his wife and their six
sons who first arrived at Fort Brooke (now Tampa). John purchased 40
acres and moved his family to what is now known as Seffner. Nine
years later John’s wife died. Eventually John re-married a widow by
the named of Victoria. In 1874 John purchases 160 acres south of
Hopewell Road now known as Hwy 60 and names his land Brandon. In
1890, The Florida Central and Peninsula Railroad moved into Brandon
by building a depot on Moon Avenue. By 1922, the population has
grown to 100. Nine years later Hwy 60 started as a nine foot wide
paved road. Brandon was definitely a farming area from raising
chickens, cows, vegetable and oranges. With little to no growth
during WWII, Brandon held on by means of selling their goods. By the
early 1960’s, Brandon’s population grew to 1000 people, but by 1980,
Brandon’s growth rapidly takes off in the southern area and, by 1988
Brandon’s population rose by nearly 100,000 people.
Today, Brandon’s
residential population sits over 178,000 and is classified as an
urban area The average age of Brandon’s residences is 35 with over
45% of the population making over $75,000 annual income. Since the
opening of Brandon Town Center in 1995, the mall has generated new
growth and spurred large retail competition. The Bloomingdale area
inside of Brandon quickly expanded around the Bloomingdale golf
course as did other golf course communities in Brandon.
